The Japanese government said the Chinese aircraft was in their waters. Tokyo has expressed a diplomatic protest to Beijing.
Five ballistic missiles fired by the Chinese military, which was conducting exercises near Taiwan, fell into Japanese waters for the first time. This is in reference to the statement of the Japanese government reports to the local news agency Kyodo on Thursday, August 4.
It was the first time a ballistic missile belonging to the Chinese military had hit Japanese waters, Defense Minister Nobuo Kishi said.
According to him, this is a serious problem concerning the national security of Japan and the Japanese people. The Chinese government filed a diplomatic protest with the Chinese government.
On Tuesday evening, August 2, China announced that it will conduct some of its largest military exercises, including a ballistic missile launch, in response to US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan.
China’s command on the first day of large-scale exercises in the Taiwan area involved 100 military aircraft and 10 destroyers, according to the South China Morning Post.
The media noted that modern J-20 stealth fighters and the latest Y-20U tanker aircraft are participating in the exercises. The destroyers block access to maneuver zones around Taiwan and help coordinate the actions of other Chinese forces.
It can be remembered that Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan caused a negative reaction from China, which considers the island as its territory.
Beijing responded by imposing trade restrictions on Taipei and also began military exercises and missile launches in the region.
