Rescuers put out 280 fires in farmland. The Donetsk region suffered the most from the fire.
Employees of the State Emergency Service saved more than 1.5 thousand hectares of grain crops from fires caused by shelling. Anatoly Shkarbuta, deputy head of the preventive work department of the fire safety department of the Emergency Prevention Department of the State Emergency Service, announced this in a briefing on August 4.
He clarified that during the fire-safe period, 280 agricultural fires were eliminated from the territory of Ukraine. Their total area is more than five thousand hectares.
“The largest number of fires occurred in Donetsk region – 101, Mykolaiv region – 33, as well as in Kherson and Zaporozhye regions,” said Shkarabuta.
Since the beginning of the de-occupation of pyrotechnics by the State Emergency Service, more than 50 thousand hectares have been cleared of mines, the most extensive work was carried out in Kyiv, Chernihiv and Sumy regions.
“We recommend farmers to check the fields for clearance before harvesting,” the representative of the State Emergency Service emphasized.
Earlier, the State Emergency Service reported that it would take at least ten years to clean up the territory of Ukraine after the war.
