Previously, there were up to six programs for financing different areas of aid in Kyiv. They plan to replace them with a trust fund.
NATO plans to create a single trust fund to finance Ukraine. This was announced by Deputy Head of the President’s Office Ihor Zhovkva in an interview with LB.ua, published on August 4.
He noted that the alliance, which could not supply Ukraine with lethal weapons, would do everything possible to supply non-lethal weapons.
“This is not so important during the war, because Ukraine needs additional fuel and lubricants, means of combating UAVs, medicines, first aid kits to NATO standards,” said Zhovkva.
He also recalled that at one time there were up to six NATO trust funds that financed various elements of aid to Ukraine – demining, training of military personnel, etc.
According to the deputy head of the OP, humanitarian demining is a very important topic.
“Today, it is planned to create a single trust fund that will finance the related needs of Ukraine. By the way, humanitarian demining is a very important topic. This work has already begun, but we need suitable specialists, equipment, and means. NATO is ready to help here, and this is important help,” the deputy head of the OP emphasized.
Recall that the leaders of NATO countries at the Madrid summit at the end of June approved a package of assistance to Ukraine, including accelerated delivery of non-lethal weapons, increased cyber defense and modernization of the defense industry.
The alliance also adopted a new concept of strategic security, in which Russia is called the main threat.
