Now biomethane producers can apply to gas network operators for technical conditions for biomethane supply.
The National Commission for State Regulation in the Spheres of Energy and Utilities (NEURC) has resolved the issues with providing biomethane to Ukraine’s GTS. This was reported by the State Agency for Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving in Ukraine.
“On August 2 this year, NEURC adopted a resolution “On Amendments to the Code of Gas Transportation Systems and the Code of Gas Distribution Systems”, which regulates the supply of biomethane to the network. The resolution provides an increase in the molar fraction of oxygen content in natural gas from 0.02 ml.%: to 0.2 ml % for biomethane access to the gas transmission system, to 1.0 ml % for biomethane access to the gas distribution system,” said report.
The State Energy Efficiency Committee states that biomethane producers can apply to GTS / GDS operators for technical conditions for the supply of biomethane to the network.
Biomethane is a carbon-neutral analogue of natural gas, produced by upgrading biogas (gas from biomass, such as agricultural waste).
Recall that in early July, European countries filled their underground gas storage facilities by more than 60%. Even then, there were about 64.6 billion cubic meters in underground storage facilities. m of gas. In 2021, such values were reached only on August 9.
