About 2,500 civilians remain in Avdiivka, Donetsk region, near where fighting continues. This was announced on Wednesday, August 3, by Vitaliy Barabash, head of the Avdiivka city military-civilian administration, on Radio Liberty.
He said local residents who remained in the village were living in “inhumane conditions.” They had no water, no gas, and no electricity for almost three months.
“We are trying to bring water, but it is very difficult to do so. The city is flooded almost 20 times a day,” he said.
“For several days in a row, the enemy did not stop trying to attack the city. Everything was under the cover of artillery, aviation. Almost every day, aviation attacked twice a day. They operated from all artillery systems available. They use Sontsepeki, Iskander. remote mining,” he added.
According to Barabash, 10% of the population that was in the city before the full Russian invasion remained in the city.
Earlier, the president said that the situation in the offensive of Russian troops in the direction of two suburbs of Donetsk – Peskov and Avdiivka has become a real hell.
