The European Commission has offered four defense projects to combat Russian wind invasion. Politico writes about it.
The document received the document on the eve of an informal meeting of EU leaders in Copenhagen. This refers to the creation of a “drone wall”, as well as three more projects:
-
Eastern flank observation – the identity of threats, including hybrid operations and intrusion into drones;
-
Air Defense Shield is a joint project of EU countries aimed at strengthening air defense capabilities and missile defense;
-
Defense Space Shields – Support for competitiveness of Block in Sphere for threat monitoring.
To receive funds for implementation, all projects must be not approved. Thus, those countries are far from the Russian threat have to spend money on them.
“The projects are open to all member countries and may at least partially funded by the European Defense Industry Program worth 1.5 billion euros, the negotiations of which are still being carried out,” the publication notes.
Keep in mind that European leaders will meet in Copenhagen after a violation of the airspace of Poland, Romania, Denmark and Norway, recorded in recent weeks, as well as Russian aircraft in Estonian territory.
The European Commissioner on Defense Andryus Cubilyus said the EU had no opportunities to identify drones. To produce an entire land network on earth and sea, capable of both monitoring and destroying goals, it will take at least one year.
