EU calls for dialogue on Taiwan

The European Union called for dialogue to avoid tension during US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan. This was reported by Reuters.

“Tensions must be resolved through dialogue. Appropriate communication channels must be maintained to reduce the risk of miscalculations,” the EU said.

As the European Commission spokesperson said, the EU has a “clear one China policy”, which recognizes the government of the People’s Republic of China as the sole legitimate government of China, and pursues “friendly relations and close cooperation with Taiwan.”
