The funeral is carried out both in traditional form and through the burial of the urn with ashes to the ground.
At the National Military Memorial Cemetery (NVMK), 108 burials of Ukrainian defenders took place in the first month from the opening. Among them were 97 Ukraine defenders, whose names were unknown, and 11 defenders, whose families turned to a state institution with a request to fulfill the last will and bury them in this area. “This process is similar, and the number of appeals is growing. Families are expected to conduct ceremonies in accordance with established procedures. We are constantly in contact with them to ensure the right fulfillment of the last will of defenders and proper respect for their memory,” the ministry said.
The department recalled that each funeral ceremony took place according to the ritual of the military funeral, referred to by the charter of the Ukraine’s armed forces, in compliance with all the awards in the military, and at the request of families, representatives of clergy to participate in ceremonies.
