Bulgaria wants to terminate an agreement on gas transit from Russia.
In 2026, Bulgaria plans to terminate the contract for the use or transit of Russian natural gas. And in 2028, Russian gas should be finally expelled from the Bulgarian energy market. The Prime Minister of Bulgaria Rosen Zheliazkov stated this in the local BNR edition of the Session of the UN General Assembly.
According to him, Sofia listened to the words of President Donald Trump, who urged Europe to abandon Russian energy.
As for the call of President Donald Trump, who voiced during the session of the General Assembly, we, as part of the European Union, join the decisions that, in the short term – by 2026 – contracts for the use or transit of Russian natural gas have been terminated, ”the official said.
The Prime Minister of the Bulgarian added that all the consumption of natural gas in Bulgaria for industry and households is currently covered with an import of liquefied gas supplied through specialized terminals.
Recall that the European Commission said that Europe can replace Russian liquefied natural gas with an American. It will be part of the European Union’s strategy about the complete rejection of energy from the country of the aggressor.
