Zelensky: Ukraine builds a new security architecture

The head of the state mentioned the failure of the Budapest Memorandum, which became “empty words.”

Ukraine, along with the partners, is building a new security architecture, as the Budapest Memorandum “failed” and became “empty words.” On Tuesday, September 23, President Vladimir Zelensky said in a speech at a UN Security Council meeting in Ukraine.

“The Budapest Memorandum, designed to ensure Ukraine safety in exchange for the denial of nuclear weapons, failed. He proved that international promises could be empty words,” Zelensky said.

According to him, for this reason, Ukraine, along with Great Britain, France and more than 30 countries in the coalition of those who want to build a new security architecture.

“We are relying on the reliable support of the United States,” Zelensky added.

According to him, the real guarantee of security should be a border that Russia will not cross again.

Remember that US ex-president Bill Clinton said he regretted that he was convinced of Ukraine to abandon nuclear weapons in the 1990s.
