French President Macron responded to the United States’s request to introduce tariffs against China.
The European Union will hold its own diplomacy in China, so the EU will decide on its own if additional tariffs and duties are worth against Beijing. French president Emmanuel Macron said in an interview with CBS News.
Coming to the requirements of US President Donald Trump to introduce new tariffs against China to increase the pressure in Beijing, Macron said “we will conduct our own diplomacy in China.”
The President of France added that in contact with China, the EU followed a approach for reducing risk, incomplete dissociation. Now it’s worth dealing with other penalties issues.
“We focus on some second penalties, if they make sense. I think we should start a serious dialogue to find out where and how far Russia receives from third countries, and increase pressure,” Macron said.
At the same time, the President of France added, in principle, the approach to the penalties is true, but he must contact Russia directly and target.
“Therefore, I believe that this method is correct, but it should be of benefit and directly related to Russia,” Macron added.
As reported, Trump offers Europe “to do something” in China. The White House leader believes that European leaders should put pressure on China so he can put pressure on Russia to end the war in Ukraine. Trump himself admitted that he could not affect Putin.
