Syria will hold the first parliamentary election after the collapse of the Assad regime. Voting will take place on October 5.
In Syria, the date of the first parliamentary election was announced after the collapse of the Bashar al -assad regime. According to the official announcement, the vote for the new Composition of the Public Assembly will be held on October 5, 2025 in all the country’s electoral districts. This has been reported by Reuters with reference to Sana State Information Agency
Voting for 210 members of the People’s Assembly was held “in all electricity districts”, although last month the election commission said voting in the three provinces was postponed due to safety problems.
A third of the places in the People’s Assembly will be appointed President Ahmed Al-Sharaa.
It is expected that the new meeting will put a foundation for a broader democratic process following the collapse of former President Bashar Al -assad in December last year after nearly 14 years of civil war. Critics note that the existing country management system does not have sufficient representation of minors living in the country.
Earlier it was reported that Syria had planned financial reform. The new currency seal was entrusted to the Russian Enterprise Goznak, who had previously issued banknotes of the Assad regime.
