China sent 18 fighter jets, one early warning aircraft and two reconnaissance aircraft.
21 Chinese military aircraft entered Taiwan’s air defense identification zone. This was announced by the island state’s Ministry of Defense on Tuesday, August 2.
According to him, China sent eight J-11, 10 – J-16 fighters, a KJ-500 airborne early warning and control aircraft, and two Y-9 and Y-8 reconnaissance aircraft.
The ministry said the planes entered the air defense zone in the southwest of the island. At the same time, they are approaching the conditional line of demarcation between China and Taiwan.
It can be recalled that on the night of August 2, the Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, arrived in Taiwan. This trip drew heavy criticism from official Beijing. China announced a series of military exercises that began tonight.
In response, the White House said Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan was not a violation of China’s sovereignty. Washington sees no reason to escalate China.
