Germany introduces mandatory measles vaccination

Mandatory vaccination against measles (usually carried out as part of the so-called triple vaccination against the virus) will come into force in Germany from this Sunday for children and certain categories of workers.

July 31 of this year ends a transition phase during which it was only mandatory for children whose families applied for admission to a nursery, after the German parliament approved the measure in 2019.

From now on, families of school-aged children who have not yet done so will be required to provide evidence vaccination or evidence that they have passed measles.
