The head of the state created the office of the military Ombudsman and appointed Olga Reshetilova the authorized man.
President Vladimir Zelensky signed an order in the creation of an Ombudsman’s office of the military and decided to appoint Olga Reshetilova to the first military ombudsman. This was reported by the head of state’s press service on Friday, September 19.
“Thanks to the parliamentaries for the adoption of my bill on military Ombudsman. It is about the true protection of the rights of our warriors. The law has been signed and published. Now I signed a command to make a law,” a commandment of creating an office of a military Ombudsman, “the President said.
The military Ombudsman can solve problem issues of military service and consider complaints, may assign inspections and make decisions. He will report to the President and Verkhovna Rada.
The head of the state approved the regulation of the office of the military Ombudsman. It will be a permanent assistant body under the president of Ukraine, who will ensure civil control in compliance with the rights of all defense forces – current military personnel, warriors of voluntary formation territorial communities, reservists in exercises, participants in the movement of work resistance and law enforcement officials participating in hateers.
Zelensky added that the start of the institution and the system works in advance.

On September 17, 2025, Verkhovna Rada enacted the military’s Ombudsman law.
