It was a long-awaited agreement in the context of rising global prices of agricultural products, and when several countries, mainly in Africa, are at risk of starvation, deprived of imports of Ukrainian grain products. Five months after the start of the Russian invasion, Kiev and Moscow finally managed to agree on the resumption of these supplies.
In fact, two agreements were signed in Istanbul on Friday, one by Ukraine and the other by Russia, which made commitments to the mediators of this crisis, Turkey and the United Nations. The agreement mentions the creation of so-called “safe” corridors to ensure the export of millions of tons of wheat and other grains blocked in Ukrainian ports through the Black Sea. In this case, we are talking about three ports: Odessa, Chornomorsk and Pivdenny.
