Christ Friland will be a special Canadian representative to restore Ukraine

Canadian prime minister Mark Karny asked Christ Freeland, announcing a resignation from the government, to be a special representative in Ukraine restoration. He wrote about it on Social Network X on Tuesday, September 16th.

Carni thanked Freeland for her “extraordinary merits” while working with the Canadian federal government over the last decade.

“I asked Christie to take a new position of a special Canadian representative in the restoration of Ukraine, in addition to its roles as a member of Parliament,” he wrote.

According to the Prime Minister of Canada, Freeland as a former financial minister, foreign and international trade, with deep relationships and understanding of Ukraine and its economy, “there are really unique opportunities for timely and important work for the benefit of the best future for Ukrainians and European worlds.”

Earlier on Tuesday, Friland announced that he had left the Post of the Transport Minister and Internal Commodity of Canada and would not run in the next election.

Freeland conquered influential posts in the Canadian government that has been almost continued since 2015. He, among other things, has been the first woman as Canadian finance minister to the government of former ex-prime minister Justin Trudeau, and after the prime minister’s prime minister.

Freeland resigned in December 2024 due to Trudeau’s disagreement about relations with the United States. After the liberal victory, led by Mark Karney in March 2025, he returned to the government for the Minister of Transport and internal goods.
