On the island of Galindez, where the Ukrainian Antarctic station is academic Vernadsky, Polar explorers recorded a unique phenomenon.
Ukrainian scientists from Antarctic Station Academician Vernadsky shared a picture of a wonderful natural phenomenon – frozen snow waves. The incredible snow cornices were formed on the island of Galindez due to the integration of strong winds and snow storms.
“Snow Cornice is another interesting -kindly phenomenon that is taken by our polar explosives. It often constitutes the tops of the mountains, rocks and edges of the glaciers.
Unlike sandy dunes, snow is capable of combining and maintaining shape, so scallops remain “frozen” for a while.
“If you ask why this snow cornice arises? Because the sloping configuration in this area is created, to speak, the” snow stream ” – the path to which the snow sent by the wind is gravitated,” said Denis Pisnyak, head of the environment and Geocosm of NANC.
Earlier it was reported in Antarctica, Ukrainian polar explorers noticed the unusual icicles generated due to the inclusion of two rare natural processes.
