US president Donald Trump has announced that he is sending the National Guard to the city of Memphis (Tennessee) to fight the crime. Trump signed the document at the beginning of the operation in Memphis on Monday, on August 15 in the White House reported by CNN.

Earlier, the White House said the rate of crime in Memphis exceeded the national indicator and grew up compared to last year – despite official police statistics, indicating the opposite.
Trump noted that the Memphis Safe Task Force created in Memphis would be a “copy of our highly successful efforts in Washington,” in which he used the military to fight crime in the city in August.
In conjunction with the military, representatives of a number of federal departments – the FBI, the Office for Combating Drugs (DEA), the Immigration and Customs Control (ICE) service and the US marshals will be sent to the city.
“We are directing significant power there,” Trump said.
He also said that in Washington there was “almost no crime” after the national guard was introduced to the capital last month, and the city police were occupied by the federal government.

Unlike Governor Tennessee, the democratic governor of Illinois Jay Bee Protzker and Chicago’s democratic leaders criticized the president’s idea, asserting that such an intervention was not necessary.
