Counterintelligence SBU detained a 41-year-old abbot of one of the temples of the Sumyska diocese UOC (MP), which was a corrector of Russian military intelligence (better known as the game).
This was announced today, September 12, SBU press services and the Sumy regional prosecutor’s office.
How the investigation established:
- Kryrik controlled the whereabouts of military units and strengthening the defense forces of Ukraine in the territory of Shostka and the Goskinsky district in the Sumi region and handed them over to the Rashists;
- Most of the enemy was interested in the coordinates of the headquarters and fortresses in the border areas.
According to the data, the invaders planned to take these positions of the Ukrainian troops and create a “dead zone” along the border, which would allow the Russian DRG to penetrate deep into the Sumi region and strengthen the approach of the main enemy forces, ”the SBU says.
In accordance with the file of the case:
- Being a professional, suspected of one of the Internet criminals, began communication with a representative of the special service of Russia;
- To collect intelligence, the priest was provided to parishioners, and then in his free time he went to the terrain independently and checked the presence of military facilities there;
- After setting potential goals, the Russian informant announced the curator with voice and text messages in the messenger.
SBU employees previously carried out difficult measures to protect the posts of defense forces and detained the person involved in his house, ”said SBU. – During the search, the Arhprings revealed professional literature and a smartphone with evidence of cooperation with the enemy.
The priest reported suspicion in the framework of the second part of art. 114–2 of the Criminal Code (the spread of information about the movement, movement or location of the armed forces or other military units formed in accordance with the laws of Ukraine).
He is in custody, threatens up to 8 years in prison.
