Nancy Pelosi is scheduled to visit Taiwan’s parliament on Wednesday and meet with President Tsai Ing-wen.
The Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, will arrive in Taiwan on the evening of Tuesday, August 2. This was reported by the local edition of ETtoday, citing its own sources.
Allegedly, Pelosi will fly to Songshan Airport in Taipei tomorrow around 22:30 (17:30 Kyiv time – ed.). He will spend the night at the Grand Hyatt. And the next day, he will visit Taiwan’s parliament and meet with President Tsai Ing-wen.
Pelosi is scheduled to leave the island nation on the same day, August 3.
In turn, the publication Sleek Gist claims that Taiwan has put the military on “high alert” against the backdrop of a possible visit by Pelosi.
Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense canceled vacations for some officers and soldiers and mobilized its air defense forces to “prepare for war.”
At the same time, the authorities of the US and Taiwan did not comment on the situation.
But the Chinese diplomat Cao Wuyi published threats about the possibility of the use of force in connection with a possible visit by Nancy Pelosi.
Referring to the PRC’s Eastern Military Region Command, he said China is “ready to bury any invading enemy.”
Remember, the media reported that the United States is moving forces, including aircraft carriers and large aircraft, closer to Taiwan ahead of Pelosi’s expected visit to the island.
