The United States plans to gradually underinize programs to provide security for assistance to European troops located on the Russian border to shift the burden of these costs for Europe. This has been reported by the Financial Times.
The Donald Trump administration noted that financing in So -called Section 333, which allowed the Pentagon to provide military training and support to the same US states.
According to publication interlocutors, funds in Section 333 are approved by Congress, and financing is currently allocated before the end of September 2026, but they plan to never ask for Trump.
Interlocutors note that this decision could lead to a reduction in the “hundred -millions of dollars”, directed by the United States in Russian border countries.

The White House officer, in turn, told the publication that this step matches Trump’s efforts to “change and re -provide” the US external aid.
“This action is organized in European countries in accordance with … the president’s long accent for Europe to take great responsibility for its defense,” he said.
Remember that Europe has become the leader in the direction of weapon making for Ukraine. From the beginning of the war to June 2025, Europe allocated at least 35.1 billion euros of military assistance through defense purchases – 4.4 billion euros more than the United States.
