Kosovo will soon introduce temporary residence permits for Serbian citizens and start converting cars to Kosovo license plates. In Serbia, this is considered oppression.
Serbia and Kosovo need to engage in dialogue as the conflict escalates. This will help prevent Russian influence in the region. This was announced on Monday, August 1, in a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
The Ukrainian department called on the parties to engage in constructive dialogue to ensure the security of all citizens, maintain peace and ensure the stable development of the Western Balkans.
“It is important not to give the Russian Federation room to implement its escalation policy in the region,” the Foreign Ministry said.
The Ukrainian department also reminded that a round-the-clock embassy in Serbia has been opened to help Ukrainians: +381631113185.
Kosovo seceded from Serbia and declared its independence in 2008. Serbia still does not recognize the independence of the republic. Kosovo is recognized by 116 countries, including the United States and most EU countries. Among those that refuse to recognize the republic’s independence are Ukraine and several EU members.
Kosovo supports Western sanctions against Russia. Serbia has close relations with Moscow.
Remember that Russia fully supports Serbia’s position on the situation around Kosovo.
