The north of Kosovo is inhabited by ethnic Serbs who are negative about the region’s separation from Serbia. They use Serbian currency and have Serbian citizenship.
On the border with Serbia and partially recognized Kosovo, traffic resumed at checkpoints after Kosovo Serbs dismantled barricades erected there the previous day. On Monday, August 1, RTS reports.
In particular, traffic was resumed at both border checkpoints – Yarinye and Merdar.
At the same time, Kosovo began to implement the previously announced rules on issuing temporary certificates for holders of Serbian documents.
Recall that the situation in Kosovo became more complicated on Sunday, July 31, against the background of the authorities’ decision to ban the entry of cars with Serbian number plates and relevant Serbian documents from August 1.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said Kosovo was allegedly preparing an attack on Serbs in the northern region of the partially recognized state.
After the US reaction, Kosovo decided to postpone the procedure for imposing a ban on Serbian documents until September 1. In Pristina, they stressed that they would make a concession as soon as the Serbs protesting against the innovations were dismantled the barricades.
