Most Ukrainians (59%) were vulnerable to misinformation.
This is evidenced by the results of a survey conducted by the sociological group “Rating” in the period from April 1 to 19, reports the rating website.
Sociologists conducted an appropriate information test in which:
- Respondents were offered 12 general media on politics, economics and culture (six truthful and six false);
- Then the respondents rated each statement on a scale from 1 (complete manipulation) to 5 (reliable information);
- The categories of vulnerability were formed on the basis of a variable calculated as the average value of assessing the veracity of statements. The category of “vulnerable” includes respondents, the average values of which are more likely to be disinformed. Instead, respondents, whose answers are mostly closer to true estimates, belong to the category of “invulnerable.”
It is noted that Ukrainians are vulnerable to misinformation:
- Much less support for Ukraine’s entry into the EU and NATO, as well as the actions of the current government;
- Socio-political news is less likely to be considered, and the media trust less;
- to evaluate their own ability to distinguish true information from false citizens, as high as invulnerable;
- When checking information, they often rely on their own experience and intuition and are less likely to compare information from different sources;
- Most often, these are Russian or bilingual respondents, residents of the front -line, as well as representatives of less good and less educated categories.
The survey was conducted from April 1 to 13 according to a personal interview in all regions of Ukraine, with the exception of temporarily occupied territories. It was attended by 2 thousand respondents at the age of 18.
