Information efforts are closely related to the attempts of the Russian Ministry of Defense to create a false impression of the development of the front and the inevitable success of the Russian forces.
The analysts at the Institute for Study War (ISW) note the activation of the Kremlin of information campaigns to soften the support of Ukraine of the West and undermine the participation of European countries in the process of peaceful negotiations. This has been confirmed by the ISW report for September 1st.
According to the report, elements of the Russian government use three major rhetoric narratives aimed at impact on western states in a direction that benefits the Kremlin. It includes charges of European countries that promote war tightening in Ukraine, the threats of the use of nuclear weapons, as well as allegations of the inevitable Russian success in the military conflict.
According to experts, some representatives of the Russian authorities, such as Kremlin Press secretary Dmitry Peskov and the leader of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, Kirill Dmitriev, are actively promoting the thesis that European countries have intentionally delayed the war in Ukraine. This narrative aims to break the trust between the United States and the European governments using western information space.
Particularly often the Kremlin attracts Dmitriev to spread their messages to English channels, for example, on issues of a peaceful process or penalty against Russia. In addition, Deputy Chairman of the Council of Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev recently conducted into the English language account of the X Network with the criticism of French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Friedrich Merets for their cooperation with the USA in implementing peace efforts.
Medvedev has accused the leaders of France and Germany who neglect the lessons of World War II and that -Hint on the possibility of repeating historical facts, citing American atomic bombs. He also talked about Russia’s successes as “bad news” for the leaders of these countries.
The ISW’s note that all of these efforts are closely intertwined with the attempts of the Russian Ministry of Defense to create a false impression of reliable development and the inevitable success of Russian forces. The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation distributes the exaggerated data of the military movement that ISW experts are considered unreliable.
Analysts emphasize that such Kremlin’s maneuvers are caused by limited front successes, which significantly do not justify the significant human losses and financial costs.
Earlier, the Institute for the Study of the War said that in the coming weeks, Russia’s wind attacks in Ukraine may intensify. Under sight there will be things in energy.
ISW also reviewed the consequences of Ukraine’s armed forces in Russian oil refineries, noting that it could lead to a fuel deficiency in Russia, stimulate inflation and aggravate the country’s macroeconomic stability.
