President Volodymyr Zelensky commented on the idea of a buffer zone in Ukraine as part of a peace agreement.
The defense forces of Ukraine and the Russian army have long received their heavy equipment from scratch at a distance of 10 km. And the buffer zone already exists from the drones that can attack goals at long distances. The head of state announced this during a briefing on August 29.
Only those who do not understand in what technological state the war today is offering a buffer zone 40–50–60, I even heard a sentence of 100 km. This is a completely different story. Today we have a heavy weapon, and we are 10+ km from each other, because everything is affected by drones. This buffer zone, I call the dead zone, someone calls the gray zone, it already exists, ”he said.
According to Zelensky, there is no need to save time and think about all kinds of additional conditions from Moscow. And the Russians, if they want to be far from the armed forces, can take their troops deep in the occupied territories and settle there.
The President recalled that the deletion of troops performed during the summits in Minsk, but those conversations that were kept even to a complete invasion, so they brought nothing.
