German Rheinmetall’s concern plans to build a powder factory near Ukraine, especially in Romania. According to the Ministry of Economics of this country, the plant is located in the city of Victoria. The construction start is scheduled for 2026, and the whole process will last three years.
The total project budget is 535 million euros, and construction completion will create nearly 700 new jobs. The framework of implementation of this project was completed in Berlin. It was signed by Roman Minister Rada Mirutz, and among those present at the ceremony were the general director of Rheinmetall Armin Papperger, NATO secretary Mark Rutte and German’s defense minister Boris Pistorius.
The rate of growth of the European defense industry has significantly accelerated, in particular, due to the geopolitical situation after the entire invasion of Russia in Ukraine. Generally, areas of new defense businesses are more than 7 million square meters, indicating a large -scale re -equipment of the region.
In addition to the powder factory, German Rheinmetall AG opens concerns in the city of Uterlus near Hanover the largest factory for the manufacture of ammunition artillery in Europe.
Remember that Rheinmetall is expanding production capacity in some European countries – the company has plants in Spain and Hungary, is building a business in Lithuania and talking to the Latvia government. Recently, Pappperer also announced the creation of a bullet and powder factory in Bulgaria.
In Ukraine, Rheinmetall is already working on a bullet plant project and has a tank repair hub. However, according to the head of the company, the project implementation was delayed due to bureaucrat barriers.
