“This is a premeditated Russian war crime, deliberate mass murder of Ukrainian prisoners of war.”, President Vladimir Zelensky said. On Friday, July 29, explosions destroyed a prison colony where Ukrainian prisoners were held in Olenivka, a Moscow-controlled area of Donbass, 15 km from the front line. According to the Russian occupation authorities, 53 were killed and 75 were injured as a result of the bombing, including members of the “Azov” battalion. These soldiers surrendered in May after a weeks-long siege in Mariupol, where they held the stronghold of the Azovstal steel plant.
