Armenia and the UK have agreed to translate bilateral relationships to the level of strategic collaboration. The corresponding decision was made based on the results of the second cycle of the strategic dialogue between the two states. This is stated in a joint statement published by the Press Service of the Foreign Ministry of Armenia.
Parties aim to expand cooperation in the field of security and defense. In particular, contacts are planned at a high level, exchange of military attache, as well as strengthening the contact in the field of cybersecurity and counteracting hybrid threats.
Particular attention is paid in the direction of the economy: Parties emphasized the importance of deepening business relations, support for Armenia’s inclusive development, reform and diversity of economics -including within the framework of cooperation with international financial institutions.
Also, Yerevan and London discussed the preparation of a comprehensive and expanded cooperation agreement.
Against the background of rapprochement in the UK, Armenia also developed a partnership with the United States: On January 14, Washington signed a strategic cooperation agreement between the two countries. The document provides for political, defense, economic, energy, scientific and culture, as well as Armenia’s assistance in conducting military and economic reforms.
