A White House representative said Russia could face serious consequences if Putin did not agree at a meeting with Zelensky.
US president Donald Trump has promised to “intervene” if in two weeks a peace agreement has not been reached between Ukraine and Russia. He said this at a joint press conference with South Korea President Lee Je Menom on Monday, August 25th.
Trump said he will follow the negotiations between Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin within a week, after which he is willing to “intervene.”
He also noted that Russia could face serious consequences if Putin did not agree at a meeting with Zelensky.
“It can have serious consequences (for Russia. – Ed.), But let’s see what will happen next. Perhaps the consequences will be serious, because it should end,” Trump said.

“We are in agreement or not,” Trump added.
The same day, he told a meeting with reporters that Putin didn’t want to meet Zelensky, because he didn’t like him.
He also called the War of Ukraine with Russia the “conflict of personalities.”
