Norwegian prime minister Jonas Gar Steers is sure his country can maintain a high level of support for Ukraine.
Norway will continue Ukraine’s military support in 2026 and increase its volumes to a record size. This was announced by Norwegian prime minister Jonas Gar Stree at a joint meeting with President Vladimir Zelensky at Kyiv on Monday, August 25.
“I announced that the support of Ukraine in 2025 would continue in 2026. This meant $ 8.5 billion in 2026 in the financial equivalent I would offer parliament. In the past, Parliament has unanimously supported our Nansen support program. And I’m sure we can maintain high levels of support,” said.
As you know, the Nansen Support Program for Ukraine is a Norwegian multibillion-dollar civilian and military support for Ukraine for the period of 2023-2027. The distribution between civil and military support is determined earlier -in accordance with the needs of our state.
In March, it was reported that Parliament of Norway decided to increase Ukraine assistance from 50 billion Norwegian crowns ($ 4.9 billion) to 85 billion Norwegian crowns ($ 8.4 billion) in 2025.
The day before it was known that Norway was allocating $ 700 million for air defense for Ukraine. For this money, Patriot and Sams systems, as well as radars, will be paid.
