Thousands of dead soldiers returned to Ukraine today, August 19.
This was reported in the press service of the coordination headquarters -prisoner of war management (KSPPV).
Today, within the framework of previous agreements, repatriation measures have occurred. 1000 bodies were returned to Ukraine, which, according to the Russian side, belongs to the Ukrainian military, was indicated in the message.
It is noted that among repatriots – five bodies of Ukrainian military who died in captivity.
According to KSPPV, they were on the lists of “seriously wounded and very sick” prisoners to exchange in accordance with the agreements in Istanbul during the second round of negotiations.
The Russian side continues to save time and does not make obligations. Ukraine insists on the urgent liberation of all seriously ill and seriously wounded prisoners and fights for the return of all Ukrainian citizens, ”the coordination emphasizes.
Also, among those returned today on the shield are defenders from Donetsk, Zaporiczhzh, Lugansk and Kursk.
In the near future, law enforcement investigators, together with expert institutions of the Ministry of the Interior, will conduct all the necessary exams and identify repatriated bodies, the KSPPV says.
The International Committee of the Red Cross was facilitated by these repatriation measures.
