The aggressive actions taking place today were planned and provoked by Belgrade, Pristina said.
On the administrative border between Serbia and Kosovo, Serb protesters opened fire in the direction of Kosovo police. No harm done. Law enforcement officers reported this on their Facebook page.
“In some areas (near the border with Serbia – ed.), some of the shots were directed at police units, but, fortunately, there were no casualties,” the report said.
This information was confirmed by the Prime Minister of Kosovo Albin Kurti in a video message. The politician blamed “rebellious elements controlled by the Serbian government in the north”, as well as the head of the office for Kosovo under the Serbian government, Petar Petkovic, and the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić.
“Even before we started issuing entry and exit documents at the border crossings with Serbia, Serbian illegal structures in the north started blocking roads and shooting. They were preceded by statements, rallies and gathering in Belgrade. There, these aggressive actions taking place today were planned and provoked,” he said.
According to Kurti, the coming days will be difficult, but Pristina will defend its independence.
“Law enforcement and security agencies of our state are collecting information, monitoring the situation and will act to protect the law and citizens, territorial integrity and sovereignty,” the prime minister said.
In the meantime, a video has been published on the Web, as indicated, of Kosovo special forces forces gathering at the border settlement of Kosovska Mitrovica.
Recall that the escalation of the conflict in the Balkans occurred in connection with the decision of the Kosovo authorities to impose a ban on the entry of vehicles with Serbian numbers and documents issued in Serbia from August 1.
Earlier today, the Serbian Defense Ministry said that their army “has not yet crossed the border of Kosovo.”
