EU freezes about 30 billion euros of assets of Russian oligarchs

EU countries have frozen approximately 30 billion euros of assets associated with Russian oligarchs and other people under EU sanctions. This was reported by Reuters.

It noted that the states had informed the EU executive about frozen assets worth 29.5 billion euros, including yachts, helicopters, real estate and works of art.

Approximately 196 billion euros of transactions were also blocked.

However, only about half of the 27 EU countries reported steps they had taken to freeze assets.

Recall that the European Union has adopted the fifth block of sanctions against Russia, including bans on imports of coal, timber, chemicals.
