The main task of chaplains is to meet the spiritual needs of the military and maintain their morale.
In Ukraine, the chaplain service of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was launched. This was announced on Saturday, July 30, by Ukraine’s Deputy Minister of Defense Anna Malyar.
He said that recently in eastern Ukraine, together with the Deputy Commander of the Ground Forces Oleksandr Golodniuk, they met with chaplains working on the front line.
“Ukraine is unique not only in the love of freedom of our people, but also in its uncompromising multi-confessionalism. In fact, the chaplain brotherhood also proves this. We will soon launch the chaplain service of Armed Forces of Ukraine – in accordance with the standards of the new law. Therefore, we need to discuss many organizational issues,” – said Maller.
He added that their main common task is to meet the spiritual needs of the military and maintain their morale.
“Therefore, we talked about it above all. After all, a large-scale war has put our defenders and protectors in front of new very difficult challenges, which means that moral and spiritual support is much needed than before,” said Maliar.

It will be remembered that at the end of last year, the Rada adopted the Law on the Service of the Military Association. The law defines the principles by which the activities of the Military Chaplaincy Service are carried out, its structure, the order of subordination and the total number.
As you know, in 2015, the first hundred chaplains began serving in the ATO.
