The Supreme Anti -Corruption Court today, on August 4, chose a measure of restraint for the former head of the regional state administration of Lugansk and the former head of the state administration of the Mukachevo district, Sergey Gaidai, who is suspected of theft during the purchases of drones and radio communications struggle for the armed forces.
Gaidai was sent to the detention center in front of the tread for 60 days with the possibility of a promise of 10 million US dollars, the publication “Public” reports.
It should be noted that at the beginning of the meeting, the lawyer Gaidai Andriy Ivanet asked the court to postpone precautions, believing that “there was no excerpt from the Unified Register of Preliminary Investigations,” and also stated that their client was detained “illegally”.
For its part, the accused party denied a postponement of the meeting and invited for a former official for maintenance for 60 days with the possibility of a pledge of 30 million 280 thousand US dollars.
The investigating judge supported the prosecutors and continued to consider the elections of a preventive measure.
During the debates of the parties, Ivanet requested precautions for Gaidai in the form of a personal obligation or house arrest.
Gaidai himself said that when law enforcement officers came to him, he contributed to them in all possible methods and gave them a personal phone and keys to the apartment in Kyiv and from his office to Mukachevo.
Theoretically, I could create a reason and make myself a business trip. But I am here, ”he commented on the risks of a possible escape abroad, adding that“ when it ends ”, he will go to the front.
The desire to take Gaidai for bail was expressed by a number of military personnel of the State Border Service:
- Valery Vavryniuk-Major General, Head of the Western Regional Administration of the State Tax Service of Ukraine;
- Victor Latkin – senior driver;
- Alexander Nesterenko – commander of a military unit;
- Valentin Manukhin – commander of a tactical group;
- Alexander Osipets of the Tsarist detachment of the 27th border, c. Head of the 3rd border detachment.
Hearing the arguments of the parties, the court partially submitted a petition for the prosecution and sent Gaidai to the preliminary detention center within 60 days with the possibility of bail of 10 million US dollars. In the case of depositing funds, he will be entrusted with a number of procedural duties:
- Do not get away from Uzhgorod;
- transmit foreign passports;
- Do not communicate with other suspects and witnesses.
Gaidai defenders said they would appeal. In addition, according to them, Gaidai personally does not have the same amount to pay a deposit.
