The Lithuanian government resigns

Within no more than 15 days, President Gitanas Nauceda had to submit to SEJM the candidacy of a new permanent prime minister.

The Lithuanian government, led by Prime Minister Gintutol Palutskas, at a meeting on Monday, decided to resign. The LRT reported this on August 4.

“It was decided to leave the prime minister’s post, I reported that the nineteenth government of Lithuania resigned,” said Gintotas Palutskas, opening the meeting. “It sounds a little dramatic, but I will resign, and you will continue to work temporarily until the new prime minister decides what, how and in what volume will change.”

Palutskas added that the President is now sending a notice of resignation.

As reported last week, Palutskas decided to resign after he started asking more questions more and many questions about his past businessman. The journalistic investigation showed that Garnis, the co -Founder where he, received a subsidized loan of 200 thousand euros from the National Development Bank, which Palutskas served as Prime Minister.

Today the President of Lithuania Gitanas Nauceda needs to sign a command to accept the resignation of the government and teach him to temporarily fulfill his duties before appointing a new cabinet. The president needs to assign the acting prime minister.

From this moment on, and for no more than 15 days, the nouced will have to submit to SEJM the permanent prime minister’s candidacy.

If the Lithuanian Seim of Lithuania approved the new prime minister’s candidacy, he would need to submit a new government composition and agreed with the President of the President no more than 15 days. It should also be approved by voting.

Remember that in November 2024, Goldlesto Palutskas led the Lithuanian government. Thus, he worked as head of government for less than one year.
