Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk spokesman believes that Parliament has sufficient votes to adopt a proposal to improve NABU’s effectiveness and SAP at the first reading and generally. He was about it on Tuesday, July 29, told the telemarathon broadcast.
“In my opinion, after all the conversations we spent with the people’s representatives, after this initiative from the President of Ukraine received and it has a certain balance … both in society and the authorities, I hope to support this bill in Parliament of Ukraine as a basis,” Stephanechuk said.
Earlier, the media, citing resources, reported that Rada found a sufficient number of votes to adopt a bill to restore NABU and SAP powers.
As you know, on July 22, Verkhovna Rada voted for Bill No. 12414 in the second reading. This decision has limited the independence of Nabu and SAP and made them dependent on the decisions of the general prosecutor. Due to mass protests and disappointment with Western partners, President Zelensky has introduced a bill to Verkhovna Rada, which provides for the cancellation of previous law’s restrictions.
