The anti -corruption infrastructure of Ukraine may be under the general control of the prosecutor general.
The Verkhovna Rada is preparing to adopt in the second reading of the bill No. 12414, at which at the last moment amendments were introduced, which actually destroy the independence of the specialized anti -corruption prosecutor and subordinate the activities of the National Anti -Corruption Bureau and SAP General Prosmovitsa. NABU reported on July 22 at Telegram.
It is noted that this bill will allow the general prosecutor to gain access to all cases of the bureau or can give such access to any other prosecutor. In addition, the head of OGP will be able to give mandatory written instructions to Nabu detectives and, if they are not fulfilled, change jurisdiction, transferring the case to other bodies.
Legislators also introduced amendments that would allow the Prosecutor General to close the investigation at the request of the protective party, to sign the suspicions of senior officials in order to resolve disputes on jurisdiction independently.
In addition, the head of SAP loses the right to enter the group of prosecutors – this is decided only by the Prosecutor General.
In fact, if this bill is adopted, the SAP leader becomes a nominal figure, and NABU loses independence and becomes a division of the management of the Prosecutor General. The anti -corruption infrastructure of Ukraine, built since 2015 with international partners, will be destroyed, ”the Bureau emphasized.
The department also urged deputies to refrain from voting, “which could finally destroy the independence of the anti -corruption system in Ukraine.”
We will recall that on July 21, SBU and OGP began a special operation to “neutralize Russian influence” on the National Anti -Corruption Bureau of Ukraine. NABU stated that the searches concern 15 of their employees, and all of them are left without court decisions.
