The German Chancellor has expressed doubts about the possibility of Ukraine entering the European Union until 2034.
German Chancellor Friedrich Mertz said he was skeptical of Ukraine’s entry into the European Union until the end of the next budget period, which would last until 2034. It was reported by Reuters on Friday, July 18.
“For us today, the full priority will do everything possible to stop this war. After that, we talk about the restoration of Ukraine … but it will take years. Perhaps, he will not affect the current medium -financial perspective of the European Union,” said the politician, referring to the seven -year -old budget of 2028-204.
Mertz also noted that while Ukraine was attacked, in any case it was impossible to join the European Union.
In the European Union’s long-term budget for 2028-2034, 100 billion euros planned to support Ukraine. If Ukraine joined the EU in 2034, then the budget with 100 billion euros for Ukraine would change.
Keep in mind that the President of Lithuania Gitanas is suggested to be identified on January 1, 2030 as the date of Ukraine’s entry into the European Union.
