The collection was proposed to rise to 20 euros. This amount corresponds to the cost of a similar UK and USA fee.
The European Commission recommends increasing nearly three times for permission to enter the EU territory of the European Union with citizens of third countries using the Visa -Free regime, within the framework of the European Information System and ETIAS permission. This was reported by the EC’s press service on Friday, July 18.
According to a decision adopted in 2018, the collection is given to 7 euros, and considering the growth of inflation and additional operating costs, it is suggested to increase to 20 euros for an application, actually more than three years.
The EC emphasizes that in this way the collection will be taken to line with similar programs, especially electronic travel permission to the UK (ETA) and the electronic system for allowing travel to the USA (ESTA).
Now, within two months, the adjustment of the assembly should be considered by the EU and the European Parliament, the decision will enter the force as soon as the etiquette is conducted, especially in the last quarter of 2026.
It is noted that people who are not 18 or more than 70 years old, as well as members of the families of EU citizens or citizens not included in the EU, have the right to move freely to the EU territory, are exempted from the payment of the collection.
After the Ethias revenue, citizens of countries who are not part of the EU who have the right to travel to the EU without a visa, including the citizens of Ukraine, will have to fill an online application before the trip. It will be processed automatically, the resolution will be released within minutes.
Remember that German Chancellor Friedrich Mertz said he was skeptical of Ukraine’s entry into EU until 2034.
