United Arab Emirates authorities have encouraged the population to stay at home and go out only when absolutely necessary.
In Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah and Sharjah (UAE), rescuers are battling the effects of flooding caused by the heaviest rainfall in the past 27 years. This was reported by Gulf News.
A total of 879 people were rescued in Sharjah and Fujairah.
“About 40 volunteers helped transport people in their four-wheel drive vehicles, as well as buses and public transport. There were also 60 volunteers taking care of displaced families,” the report said.
Authorities said there was no information yet on the victims.
The UAE Ministry of Community Development has reportedly provided 827 hotel rooms that can accommodate up to 1,885 people from across the country.
Earlier, flooding also occurred in southern Iran, where 22 people died as a result of a natural disaster.
It was also reported that in the Russian city of Sochi, one of the rivers overflowed its banks and flooded the entire neighborhood.
