In July, by order of the Ministry of Defense, the same number of body armor was produced in four months – from March to June, the deputy minister said.
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has created a reserve of body armor, helmets and military uniforms. The personal protective equipment share of domestic production is also growing. This was announced at a briefing by Ukraine’s Deputy Minister of Defense Anna Malyar.
“From July 14 to July 27, the Ministry of Defense transferred 56,000 body armor, more than 60,000 helmets, 43,000 pairs of shoes and more than 21,000 sets of uniforms to the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. And more than 4,000 winter jackets. Remember that we have already started preparations for the winter season,” said the deputy minister.
In the near future, according to the concluded agreements, an additional supply of personal protective equipment in the amount of 20,000 body armor and 18,000 helmets is expected.
“One of the tasks of the Ministry of Defense is the rhythm of deliveries. In particular, in June, more than 100,000 bulletproof vests were transferred to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and by the end of July there will be the same figure. That is, in within two months more than 200,000 bulletproof vests will be delivered. Even now we have made a tangible reserve in providing bulletproof vests and helmets,” Maliar assured.
The deputy minister also said that in July, by order of the Ministry of Defense, the same number of bulletproof vests were produced as were produced in four months – from March to June.
“These are not thousands, but tens of thousands of units produced by domestic manufacturers,” the Deputy Minister of Defense emphasized.
