The European Commission issued a translator. She is suspected of espionage at a meeting with Zelensky.
The incident occurred on December 19 during a meeting of the European Council in Brussels, in which President Volodymyr Zelensky took part. The meeting discussed the support of Ukraine from the EU after he came to power to US President Donald Trump.
Translators were strictly forbidden to make any written notes. But Czech translators noticed how their colleague deciphered the content of discussions in the next cabin. They immediately reported these security services to the stand and caught a hot translator.
According to the Code of Conduct of the European Commission, it is forbidden to make written notes during closed meetings discussing defense and security issues.
The woman was born in a Russian family and, together with her sister, who was also a translator, lived in Ukraine. For about twenty years, the sisters constantly worked in NATO, the European Commission and the Ministry of Defense and Foreign Affairs of France.
For several years, Ukrainian diplomats in France and Brussels abandoned the translator to visit the president of Ukraine’s visits. The reason was that he maintained professional relations with Russian officials.
