European Parliament has finally approved new EU entry rules

The entry-exit system (EES) is about to register data, including the name, type of travel document, time and place of entry and exit.

The European Parliament on Tuesday, July 8, finally approved the gradual expansion of the entry-exit system (EES) to the EU’s external boundaries, the introduction of which has long been discussed. It has been reported on the European Parliament website.

The European Parliament approved 572 votes “for”, 42 “against” and 67 abstracts of the gradual implementation of the entry-exit system (EES) to the external EU borders for 180 days.

After the commission, the system will register data, including the name, type of travel document, time and place of entry and release, as well as biometric data, such as images of people and fingerprints, citizens of the third countries entering and leaving the Schengen zone along with short -term visas or using a visa -Free regime.

According to the agreed schedule, 10% of border intersections must be registered with the system on 30 days, and 35%-on 90 days. On the 170th day, all intersections must be registered, mentioned in European-institution.

The system includes steps in the case of unexpected events in case of problems with the system’s central expansion. The choice in favor of gradual expansion is voluntary, that is, EU countries can deploy the system immediately, if they wish.

The EU Council now should officially enact the law before it was published in the official EU journal. On the third day after the publication, he enters the strength.

Within 30 days after entry into strength, the EU EU-LISA agency, as stated, must develop an expansion plan for EES, and within 60 days from the same date, each state-member state-a national expansion plan.


The entry-exit system (EES) is one of the EU’s joint databases to control boundaries and security. After it is fully assigned, the physical contact of stamps to passports will be replaced with EES entries, which are available for real-time consultations for other member states of the Schengen zone in accordance with their security needs.

Remember that last year the European Union since November 10 has introduced new policies for entering Schengen zone countries.
