The smallest support of the idea of democracy was discovered in Poland, as Germany showed the highest promise of democratic values.
The Yougov organization conducted a survey with representatives of “Generation Z”, covering young people aged 16-26 in seven European countries to understand their attitude toward the democratic form of government and authoritarianism. Regarding the results of the study on Friday, July 4, The Guardian reported.
According to the publication, only 57% of the 6700 respondents called democracy are the best form of public supervision. The lowest level of support has been detected in Poland – less than half of children responding positively to check democracy. However, Germany has shown the greatest promise of democratic principles: there this figure is 71%.
At the same time, about each fifth study participant said that under certain conditions it is ready to accept authoritarianism or even dictatorship. The most tolerant of such regimes is the youth in Italy – 24%, and Germans remain at least ready for it – only 15%.
Another 10% of respondents admit that it doesn’t matter to them if their country is controlled by a democratic or authority system. In addition, 14% of participants may not or do not want to express their position on this issue.
Earlier it was reported that in 2022, American conservatives created So -called “Project 2025”, aimed at radical reform of state policy. And Donald Trump followed the points of this plan.
