In Riga, they said this and next year they will provide Kyiv for military assistance for 0.25% of GDP.
The Latvian government has supported the transfer of 42 patria 6×6 Armour personnel carriers to Ukraine and other military equipment. On Tuesday, July 1, it was reported on the Latvia Ministry of Defense website.
“In the near future, we will put the first of the 42 patrias of 42 armored carriers made in Latvia. I’m sure our Patrian bearers will help Ukraine’s armed forces in the fight against aggression,” said Andris Spruds Defense Minister Andris Spruds.
He added that in this and next year Latvia will provide Ukraine with military assistance at 0.25% of the gross domestic product.
At the same time, the department noted that the supply of armored staff in Ukraine would not affect the needs and operations of the National Armed Forces.
Remember that in NATO’s recent summit, members of the Alliance (NATO) confirmed obligations to spend 5% of GDP defense, considering the security calls represented by Russia and terrorism. Now countries will spend 3.5% of GDP on the basic defense needs and 1.5% for greater steps, such as cybersecurity. It is now important that direct contributions to Ukraine defense and its defense industry may be included in calculating their own defense costs.
