A natural disaster of magnitude 7.1 occurred in the northern island of Luzon in the Philippines today, July 27.
Buildings in the capital Manila were damaged by the strong earthquake, and four people died. This was reported by Reuters.
The head of the Ministry of the Interior of the Netherlands, Benjamin Abalos, said that four people were victims of the earthquake and 60 people were injured.
Two people died in Benguet province, one in Abra province and one in another province.
Abalos also added that 173 buildings were damaged and 58 landslides were recorded (ed. – a dangerous natural phenomenon), while 44 out of 60 were injured in the province of Abra.
According to the US Geological Survey, the earthquake occurred about 11 km southeast of the city of Dolores at a shallow depth of 10 km.
“Despite the sad reports of damage caused by the earthquake, we are ensuring a quick response to those in need and affected by this calamity,” said President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in Facebook.
The Philippine Fire Bureau released a photo of the aftermath of the earthquake.
