Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, signed a decree enforced by the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine on the abolition of Ukraine from the Convention of Ottawa – an international treaty that prohibits the use, accumulation and production of anti -private mines.
The Secretary of the Verkhovna Committee of the Rada for National Security, Defense and Intelligence Deputy Roman Kostenko announced this on June 29 on June 29.
This is a step that has long been required by the reality of war. Russia is not a party to this convention and massively uses mines against our military and civilians. We cannot remain related in conditions where the enemy has no restrictions, ”Kostenko emphasized.
Now we expect a question in the Verkhovna of the Rada of Ukraine. The legislative consolidation of this decision should finally return Ukraine to the effective protection of its territory, ”he added.
We will recall that recently the Finland parliament voted from the Ottavsky Convention.
